they are totally different from freeware  for e.g. Google docs ,sheets .Microsoft Office etc those listed software are free to use but they do not disclose their source code . hence this kind of software are freeware instead of free software. and free software availability of source code is precondition 

let us see what are free software 

the formal definition of free software was give by free software foundation in 1986 and it was coined by Richard Stallman .In this Richard stallman says that the software is free if and only if it follows some essential freedom.
